Sand Cats

Sand-Cat

Sand cats belong to the genus and species Felis margarita. The Sand Cat is the only feline species found primarily in deserts. They are also referred to as Sand Dune Cats and are found in various regions of Africa and Asia including the Sahara, western regions of Morocco, Algeria, the Middle East and Turkestan. These wild cats have special foot coverings that allow them to walk on sand without sinking, leaving their footprints nearly invisible. Like most other desert animals, they can survive for long periods of time without drinking. Drinking too much water can lead to some health problems as their bodies have evolved to withstand dry and warm conditions. Sand cats are prone to serious respiratory infections if kept in captivity.maxresdefault      sand-cat-range_thumb[5] baby_sand_cat     Sand-Cat-Kitten
